Turkish State Railways (TCDD) said that Turkey hopes for German financial support for new rail projects.
TEHRAN UIC RAME: According to media reports, Turkey has asked for financial support and expertise from Germany for the planned construction of a modern high-speed rail network. In addition to financial support from the German government, the Turkish government is hoping to award the railway project to a consortium led by the German conglomerate Siemens. The order has an estimated value of EUR 35bn (USD 40.48bn) and includes the supply of new trains, the planning of new routes, the electrification of existing routes and the installation of modern signalling technology. The German government has made no commitments but has agreed to consider state support.
